Why Bring Meditation to Therapy
I have been meditating with a variety of groups or Individuals since 1999 in New York and Georgia. Currently, I have created my own meditation room at home to continue my personal work and support others in my family and with friends. I have found that meditation group works best for me. I have been working with teachers in Atlanta, Georgia since 2006 with a background in psychology and social work who have integrated their work in these fields with their spiritual cultivation. The meditation I use in my psycho-spiritual work with clients is a blend of Taoist/Buddhist with an integration of energy work that one can experience as physical sensation, movement, or sound, however it is different for everyone.
I am currently integrating this kind of meditation in my work with individual clients for the benefits that it provides physically, emotionally, and mentally. Meditation also increases self awareness of finding one's center, working through trauma and emotions of (grief/loss, sadness, anger, shame, guilt, etc.) as this can involve body work (movement) of areas where energy is blocked or held (trauma). Through this work, individuals can release the blocked energy (trauma) and find a deeper, stronger place in themselves.
